This catalyst grant funding opportunity is part of the first phase of the Healthy Youth Initiative led by the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH). It aims to help identify and develop emerging research foci relevant to Canada’s Youth Policy, foster networking and collaboration, and build capacity for youth engagement in health research.
In alignment with the guiding principles of Canada’s Youth Policy, this funding opportunity will address principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), with the aim of ensuring responsiveness to the needs and circumstances of all young people. The Youth Policy also highlights reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and the importance of equitable access to opportunities and supports, as key considerations to ensure sustainability of Indigenous communities. The importance of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and the need for equitable access to opportunities and supports are therefore also recognized as key considerations.
